Reservation & payment

When should I pay the invoice?

You must pay a deposit of 50% two weeks after booking. The remaining 50% must be paid by bank transfer four weeks before arrival. If you have booked within two weeks of arrival, you must pay the full amount in one go. Your booking confirmation will contain a payment link.

Will I receive a payment receipt?

You will receive confirmation by e-mail once we have received your payment. If you pay via the payment link in the booking confirmation, you will receive this e-mail within an hour. If you pay by bank transfer, you will receive confirmation of payment within two working days.

What should I mention when making the payment?

Your booking confirmation contains a payment link. The easiest way to pay is to use this link. If you transfer the amount due to us by bank transfer, please quote the reference number stated in the booking confirmation. You will find this reference number under the payment link.

Can I manage my booking myself?

In your booking confirmation, you will receive a link to mijn.mechelerhof.nl. Here you can view your booking, make payments and, for example, add items or change the number of people.

Can I make a reservation with a preference for a specific holiday home?

During the booking process, you can choose a holiday home number yourself via the park map. There is a €27.50 preference fee for this. Buitenplaats de Mechelerhof reserves the right to offer comparable accommodation in the event of a serious malfunction or calamity that renders the desired holiday home unavailable. In such cases, the preference fee will of course be refunded.

Is it possible to take an option on a reservation?

It is possible to take an option on a reservation. The term of the option depends on the arrival date and is a maximum of 7 days. We ask you to finalise or cancel the option within the agreed term or within a maximum of 7 days. After 7 days, your option will automatically be converted into a definitive booking. For last-minute bookings, i.e. 14 days before the arrival date, option bookings are not possible.

I have not yet received confirmation, what should I do?

If you have not received a confirmation email within 24 hours of making an online booking, please let us know by telephone or email. We will then ensure that your confirmation is sent to you. To be on the safe side, please always check your spam folder first. Occasionally, email programmes place confirmations in the spam folder.

How can I cancel my booking?

If you have made your reservation directly through Buitenplaats de Mechelerhof (online, by telephone or by email), you can only cancel in writing. You can do this via our contact page, for example. Always state the booking number.

In the event of cancellation, you will be required to pay compensation to Buitenplaats de Mechelerhof. This amounts to:

  • 15% of the agreed price for cancellations more than three months before the start date;
  • 50% of the agreed price for cancellations between three and two months before the start date;
  • for cancellations between two and one month before the start date, 75% of the agreed price;
  • for cancellations within one month before the start date, 90% of the agreed price;
  • for cancellations on the day of the start date, 100% of the agreed price.

For the cancellation conditions, we also refer to the general terms and conditions. If you have booked through an external booking channel or travel agency, you must cancel your stay there.

Can I still change my holiday after booking?

You can change your booking up to 28 days before your arrival date. However, another stay must be available, the new stay must be in the same year, and the rental price of your booking must remain the same or be higher. If the changed booking is more expensive, you will pay the difference.

Arrival & departure

What are the arrival times?

Arrival times are from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. If you wish to arrive earlier, you can book an early check-in, subject to availability. If you expect to arrive later than 5 p.m., please contact reception. We can then leave the key to your holiday home in a safe deposit box for you. The reception desk can be reached on 0031 43 – 455 22 22 or by email at info@mechelerhof.nl.

Is a deposit required upon arrival?

No deposit is required for your stay in a holiday home. However, we do ask you to sign a form for a one-off direct debit of €150 in case there are any unexpected charges. In that case, we can settle this with a one-off direct debit. Buitenplaats de Mechelerhof assumes that you will leave your holiday home tidy after your stay.

What are the departure times?

On the day of departure, you must leave your holiday home by 10 am. at the latest and return the key to reception. Would you like to stay a little longer or leave at the end of the day? Ask at reception about the options for a late check-out (departure before 12 pm.) or a Lazy (Sun)day (departure before 5 pm.).

How should I leave the accommodation upon departure?

You must leave your holiday home swept clean, take out the rubbish, do the washing up, strip the beds and leave the bedding in the hall, empty the fridge, switch it off and leave it open, and put the (garden) furniture back in its proper place.

Is the reception open every day?

Our reception is (almost always) open from Monday to Saturday. The reception is closed on Sundays. You can find the most up-to-date opening hours in our app.

Are you arriving on Sunday? Then you will receive clear instructions in advance to ensure a hassle-free arrival. Naturally, we will make sure that everything is ready for your stay.

Good to know: on Sundays, it is not possible to order sandwiches through our sandwich service.

Holiday homes

Are a cot, high chair and playpen provided as standard?

Your holiday home does not come with standard children's furniture. You can book a cot including bed linen or a high chair. If you wish to use a stair gate, you can borrow one from reception.

Is it possible to park at the holiday home?

Buitenplaats de Mecherhof is a car-free park. Upon arrival and departure, you can park your car at the farm to load or unload your luggage. Each farm has luggage trolleys that you can use to transport your luggage to the accommodation. You can then park your car in the central car park. Disabled guests can park close to their holiday home. Please ask for a special parking permit at reception. All other vehicles must be parked in the central car park.

Are there holiday homes suitable for disabled people?

There are no specific holiday homes equipped for disabled guests. However, there are several holiday homes with only a ground floor. You can select these when booking (choose ground floor). Please enquire at our reception about the options. We are happy to provide customised solutions to make your stay more pleasant.

I would like to receive visitors during my stay. Is that possible?

Your visitors are most welcome at Buitenplaats de Mechelerhof. If your guests are staying overnight, please register them before the reception closes. Your guests are responsible for paying government taxes and the bed linen package.

Is there a Nespresso or regular coffee machine available?

All holiday homes have a filter coffee machine and a Nespresso or Lavazza machine. Coffee filters and coffee capsules are available at reception. You can also bring your own, of course.

Is there a dishwasher and/or combination microwave in the holiday homes?

All holiday homes are equipped with a dishwasher and a combination microwave. You will receive 2 dishwasher tablets upon arrival at your holiday home.

Are there any non-smoking accommodations available?

All our properties are non-smoking.

Facilities and services

Is there a laundrette at the park?

During your stay at Buitenplaats De Mechelerhof, you can use the launderette daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The launderette is located on the left-hand side of the reception desk, directly next to the reception desk. There is both a washing machine and a dryer. Tokens for the machines can be purchased at the reception desk. Washing powder is available for you at the washing machine.

Is Buitenplaats de Mechelerhof a smoke-free holiday park?

At De Mechelerhof, you can enjoy a holiday surrounded by the charm of Limburg's square farms. Our holiday homes are terraced and situated around a cosy courtyard, each with its own terrace and a shared garden. To ensure that all our guests, young and old, can enjoy the outdoors to the fullest, we kindly request that you refrain from smoking in the area surrounding the holiday homes. For smokers, there are plenty of places in the park where you can smoke without disturbing other guests. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Is there an internet connection available at the park?

A Wi-Fi connection is available for park guests. This is free to use, but may not always be suitable for uploading and downloading very large files, films or large photos when there are many guests at our holiday park. Please bear this in mind so that we can all enjoy a good connection.

Is Buitenplaats de Mechelerhof a wheelchair accessible holiday park in the Netherlands?

The terrain of our holiday park itself is hilly, as we know South Limburg. The facilities and amenities on the park are wheelchair accessible. The ground-level holiday homes are the best choice for wheelchair users, however, there are no specific adjustments in the homes. It is always wise to contact the holiday park in advance to ask specific questions about accessibility and any special needs.

Is there a fresh bread service at the holiday park?

Yes, you can order fresh bread via our app from Monday to Saturday. This service is not available on Sundays.

Is there a supermarket within walking distance?

Yes, in Mechelen you will find the Attent Shop, about 1 kilometre walking distance from the park. Here you can do your daily shopping.

Good to know: the shop is closed on Sundays and Mondays and often closes for an hour around noon. We therefore advise you to take this into account in advance.

There are also several supermarkets in the vicinity:

  • There is a local supermarket (SPAR) in Epen.
  • Both an Aldi and a Plus supermarket are located in Gulpen.

This means you will always have plenty of options for doing your shopping during your stay.

Are there charging stations for electric cars?

Yes, there are two charging stations for electric or hybrid cars at the park. This allows you to easily charge your vehicle during your stay and explore the hilly countryside without any worries.

Is there a restaurant at the holiday park itself?

There is no restaurant or café in the park itself. However, in the centre of Mechelen and in the surrounding villages, you will find various cosy restaurants, cafés and terraces where you can enjoy the Burgundian Limburg atmosphere. We are happy to advise you on nice places to visit in the area.

Can I safely store bicycles at the park?

Yes, you can safely store your bicycles at the park. For guests who bring their own bicycles, there are excellent bicycle facilities available. These include bicycle parking, private bicycle lockers, and more.

In addition, it is possible to hire bicycles from us, so that you can explore the many cycling and walking routes directly from the park.

For families

Is the park safe for children?

Yes. Buitenplaats De Mechelerhof is small-scale and peaceful, with well-organised courtyards and lots of greenery. Children can play safely in the park's playground while you relax and enjoy your stay.

Are there any play facilities for children available?

Yes, the park has various play equipment for young and old. There is a swing, seesaw, slide and a sandpit with a water playground for younger children.

For older children, the table tennis table is a popular meeting place. In addition, the large playground offers plenty of space for a game of football, badminton or just playing outside together.

Thanks to the small scale and clear layout of the park, children can enjoy their holiday here freely and in a relaxed manner.

Is there a swimming pool at the park?

No, there is no swimming pool at the park itself. However, there are several swimming pools in the immediate vicinity, including the subtropical swimming paradise Mosaqua in Gulpen. Ideal for an afternoon of water fun.

Are cots and high chairs available?

Yes, you can easily add a cot and/or high chair to your booking. This allows you to travel comfortably and means you have less to take with you from home.

Is the holiday park car-free?

Buitenplaats de Mecherhof is a low-traffic park. Cars can be parked at or near the homes. Thanks to its small scale and peaceful atmosphere, the park remains easy to navigate and safe for children.

Each holiday home has luggage trolleys that you can use to transport your luggage to the rented holiday home. You can then park your car in the central car park.

Is there entertainment during the school holidays?

No, we do not offer an entertainment programme at Buitenplaats De Mechelerhof, not even during the school holidays.

Our park is deliberately small-scale and focused on peace, space and relaxation. That means no busy activities, but plenty of freedom to explore nature together, go for walks, cycle or simply enjoy being outdoors.

There are various enjoyable outings and activities for families in the surrounding area, which we will be happy to tell you about at reception.

Pets

Are pets allowed in the holiday homes?

In the surroundings of Buitenplaats de Mechelerhof you can take your dog for a lovely walk. We therefore understand if you want to take your pet with you on holiday in South Limburg. In a number of holiday homes pets are allowed. The other holiday homes are pet-free. The costs are € 8,00 per pet per night. If you bring a pet, a cleaning surcharge of € 16 per accommodation also applies.

Are there any pet-free holiday homes?

Yes, we also have pet-free holiday homes at Buitenplaats de Mechelerhof. When making your reservation, you can easily select “pet-free” as a criterion. If no results are displayed, this means that there are no pet-free homes available. In that case, it is best to contact the reception by telephone.

How many dogs am I allowed to bring to Buitenplaats de Mechelerhof?

In the holiday homes at Buitenplaats de Mechelerhof where pets are permitted, you may bring a maximum of two dogs.

Is the southern Netherlands a nice destination for a holiday with my dog?

Of course, the southern Netherlands is a great destination for a holiday with dogs. The varied landscape and numerous walking trails ensure that dogs can enjoy themselves to the fullest.
