Summer tips near De Mechelerhof

1. Farm ice cream at the Wingbergerhoeve (Vijlen)
A real classic in the region: traditional farm ice cream with a view of the rolling meadows. Perfect after a walk or bike ride.

2. Swimming at Mosaqua (Gulpen)
Looking to cool off? Mosaqua reopened in June and is ready to welcome visitors back to relax on its water slides and in its warm waters – just a 15-minute drive from the park.

3. Fresh fruit & farm-made soft ice cream at Frijns (Wittem)
Fancy some delicious ice cream or fresh fruit? At Blauwe Bessenbedrijf Frijns, you can buy blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, cherries, grapes, jam, juice and asparagus from the fresh produce vending machines. Be sure to try the farm-made soft ice cream too!

4. Visit to St. Martinus Wine Estate (Vijlen)
Enjoy a tour and tasting at one of the Netherlands' most famous vineyards. Located in a picturesque hilly landscape.

5. Picnicking with a view
Picnicking with a view? Around the park, you will find beautiful spots along the Geul, in the Vijlenerbos or near Schweiberg. Order something tasty from De Auw Drukkerie in Gulpen or from the local cheese farmer at the market and enjoy.
6. Stand-up paddleboarding or canoeing
To cool off on hot days: explore the area from the water. Stand-up paddleboards and canoes can be hired in Valkenburg, Maastricht, Gulpen, and other locations.
7. Village festivals & summer concerts
In July and August, the region buzzes with small festivals, markets and concerts. Tip: check the local calendar at our reception.
